Here is the backstory. You see, I have always been picky about toothpaste. I don't like the minty kinds. I always went for cinnamon. Let me tell you, there are not a lot of choices in cinnamon, I remember like one choice at Target. Then several years back I discovered how nasty fluoride is and so finding toothpaste that is cinnamon, has no fluoride and tastes decent was really a chore. I found a few and they were OK, but I was not really in love. Plus they were expensive, like $6- $8 a tube. I started using On Guard toothpaste and really liked it and then I learned about carageenan. Do you know about it? Briefly here is what I know - it is a food additive and it produces inflammation. I don't need anything in my body that produces inflammation. Grody stuff. Sometimes I think I should get off the internet, I know Julie thinks I should. I am constantly learning something new and saying, no, we can't have that either, "it's toxic"! Then I switch us to something else. I promise I am just trying to do what is best for us, but I know it drives her batty. Ignorance is bliss is not a phrase that applies to me, that is for sure.

I followed her recipe (without the DE) and used 2 drops of cinnamon essential oil essential oil and 3 drops of wild orange for flavor. OMG it was so yummy! I was so excited! I wish I could say I am exaggerating but I brushed my teeth 3 times because I was enjoying it so much. My teeth felt wonderfully clean! I know it is crazy but it was cheap, easy, effective and finally tasty toothpaste! I will never again buy a $8 tube of toothpaste.
So is this something you would be willing to try? Let me know your thoughts.
Oh, and if you are curious about carageenan, check out this article in Prevention. This is just one article but there is lots more info on it if you dare to Google. It is pretty nasty stuff and it is in all kinds of food. I sure don't want it in me or my kiddos. Go check it out. Knowledge is power.
If you are not an oil user and you are interested in learning more let me know. The two brands I know, love and trust are doTERRA and Spark Naturals. Message me and I can help you.
Be well.
